The Battle Of Carnival And Lent

The Battle Of Carnival And Lent is a really cool animated short created by a team of artists at Supinfocom, representing a medieval battle between the popular sentiment and the religious. Fasting versus indulging, so on and so forth. The entire concept of the animated short was extracted from an oil painting by the same name created by Dutch artist Pieter Brugel in 1559.

The team translated this classic painting into a sort of high level chess game playing out between an indulgent king and a celibate priest, with a town and it's inhabitants recreated in woodwork as their playground to spread their message. Kudos to the team for this creative interpretation of a piece of fine art.
